Sharpen Your Axe…With these sites

In a previous post I encouraged you,  in order to go further as an individual and as a leader you have toImage stay sharp; mentally, physically, spiritually, and perhaps fashionably. The more we know the more we are able to grow in our areas of interest and expertise. Even though we can listen and learn; the most trusted age-old way of gaining knowledge and wisdom is through reading.

“It is what you read when you don’t have to that determines what you will be when you can’t help it.”
― Oscar Wilde
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
– Dr. Seuss
As culture progresses so does information distribution. Information was once exchanged only verbally, then hand written, eventually the printing press was invented, and today the internet provides multiple outlets to share and read about almost anything instantly in a digital format.

There is an overwhelming amount of information available that it can almost be daunting and counterproductive, but these are some of the blogs and websites that I try to read through on occasion to sharpen my knowledge of leadership, culture, and ministry.

LEADERSHIP

  • Great Leaders Serve (Chick Fil A Leadership guru Mark Miller)
  • Michael Hyatt (Former CEO of Thomas Nelson on performance, platforms and productivity)
  • Forbes (Can’t believe I read this now)
  • Entrepreneur (Again used to see this magazine and think…ughh business stuff)
  • INC (Just starting to read through this site)
  • 99u.com (More about creativity than leadership)

CULTURE

  • Relevant Magazine (Had an actual subscription for years…They address God.Life.Culture)
  • Life Hacker (Fun tips and information how to enjoy life and make things cooler)
  • BuzzFeed (Endless lists of pop culture information and random news.. But you have to chew the hay and spit out the sticks)
  • Huffington Post ( Great one stop on news, culture, and life)
  • TedTalks (Great videos on everything from science, art, leadership, psychology and culture)

MINISTRY

  • The Resurgence (Informative site on Jesus centered theology, leadership, and culture)
  • Church Leaders (Ministry and leadership tools for pastors in every area)
  • Tony Morgan (Personal Blog as a church consultant and church culture investigator)
